NUMBER FACTS 1

This video clip considers the naming convention for multiplication facts and is based on the number fact 5 x 3 = 15. The first factor (5) tells the number of equal groups and the second factor (3) tells the number in each group. The multiple or product is 15.

ARRAYS 1

This video clip transfers the naming convention for number facts to arrays and is based on a 5 by 3 array. The first factor (5) tells the number of rows in the array, and the second factor (3) tells the number in each row. The whole array (15) represents the multiple or product. The clip also demonstrates the commutative property of multiplication through the rotation of the array.

ARRAYS 2

This video clip follows on from Arrays 1 in further discussing the commutative property of multiplication. That is, the order of the factors can be changed without changing the multiple or product. This clip uses two different lengths and colours of strips to create arrays, one of which is then rotated.
